The Gerontology Clinic at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) was designed with the comfort and well-being of geriatric patients and their caregivers in mind. With a focus on patient-centered care, each exam room is thoughtfully designed to provide a seamless experience for patients.

The clinic features exam rooms that are equipped with two distinct zones, a consultation area and a physical exam area, allowing patients and caregivers to remain together throughout their visit. The consultation area is designed to support the conversational portion of appointments that often occurs between the patient, caregiver, and medical professionals. It includes a meeting table and chairs to ensure that patients and their caregivers can comfortably discuss their concerns with their healthcare team. The physical exam area is fully equipped with all the necessary amenities of a typical exam room, and can be curtained off from the consultation area to provide patients with privacy during the exam, while still allowing their caregiver or family member to remain in the room.

The clinic also houses a team of senior health professionals who specialize in treating geriatric patients and provide support for memory loss, falls, diabetes, blood pressure management, emotional health, medication management, and nutrition. Each professional has their own office located within the clinic, making it easy for patients to access the care they need. Additionally, a multi-purpose room is available for professionals to collaborate on patient care plans and for training activities.
