Prescott Farm Environmental Center
Innovation Center and Farm Connector at Prescott Farm
K-12 Education:
After conducting a feasibility process to analyze all existing facilities, programs and land use, a phased Integrated Master Plan was developed that focused on connection all the campus elements and adding new facilities that would support the growth and daily activities of Prescott Farm.
The first phase connected the existing farmhouse and functional barn that incorporated a meeting space, bathroom facilities, and a camp office, transforming their ability to support visiting school groups, children’s camps, and adult programs. The second included a new 2-level Innovation Center with a large activity space above and a much needed farm and garden equipment storage garage built into the hill below. The upper space was designed as a multi-station teaching kitchen and project learning classroom, with a food preparation porch to the garden side. The open barn-like gabled ceiling is treated with slatted wood acoustic panels while a low maintenance poured epoxy protects the floor below, and the entire space is daylit with tall windows on all sides. These new facilities have allowed the Farm to expand their existing programs, and to create new ones that reach a larger community and fulfill their mission to connect people with their natural environment through experiential activities.
