Kendal at Hanover
Cadbury Community Center Renovation
Senior Living:
When Kendal wanted to renovate their community center and approached our team, their goal was straightforward: refresh their lobby in a way that felt true to the place and address a logistical problem that had quietly taken over the space.
Like many buildings, the facility had adapted its lobby to handle the surge in package deliveries that followed COVID-19. Over time, boxes, mail, and delivery carts had become a permanent fixture. The lobby had drifted from its original purpose, to be a welcoming front door to this vibrant community many call home.
Our work focused on two things in tandem: reorganizing how deliveries were received and stored, and redesigning the lobby itself. By carving out a dedicated, purpose-built package management area adjacent to the space, we were able to return the lobby to residents. The design concept took its cues from the surrounding landscape: the granite, timber, and natural tones that characterize the Hanover region, grounding the interior in something familiar and specific to where people actually live.
The outcome was a lobby that functions the way it should. People started using the lobby again. The packages have a place, it just isn’t the front door anymore.
