City of Lebanon
Fire Station #1

Civic + Cultural | Municipal:
Justice | Public Safety

Lavallee Brensinger Architects was selected by the City of Lebanon to create a master plan for its public safety facilities. An operational and space needs assessment identified the need to replace Fire Station #1, a 1953 building on South Park Street located downtown. Which outlived its usefulness and no longer met modern fire service requirements.

Our team worked closely with the City’s Fire Department to plan and design a new, state-of-the-art facility tailored to evolving departmental needs. The design maximizes the existing site while incorporating current NFPA standards, organizing the building into clearly defined hot, warm, and cold zones. This layout supports a safe and efficient decontamination process, allowing firefighters and EMS personnel to transition from the apparatus bays (“hot zone”) to offices and living quarters in the “clean zone” without cross-contamination.

The new station is designed to a Net Zero–ready standard, featuring a high-performance building envelope, all-electric systems, and rooftop solar panels. It will also benefit from the City’s solar farm. The project qualifies for the NH Saves program and is anticipated to receive $60,000 to $70,000 in energy efficiency incentives.

The result is a modern Fire and EMS facility that strengthens Lebanon’s ability to deliver high-quality public safety services to a growing community.
