The Library Trustees of Pope Memorial Library hired Lavallee Brensinger Architects to solve their desire for 21st century library services. The Pope Memorial Library is a privately-funded library that is free and open to the public: each year, they raise 100% of their operating funds through donations. This means that while they look and act like a public library, they receive no public funding from the Town, State, or Federal government.

The library serves the entire Mt. Washington Valley Region including the towns of Albany, Bartlett, Center Conway, Chatham, Conway, Eaton, Glen, Hale’s Location, Hart’s Location, Intervale, Jackson, Kearsarge, Madison, North Conway, Redstone, and South Conway.

Our planning and design team worked closely with a significant donor (with funding from additional donations) to produce a solution that optimized the repurposing and reorganizing of existing library spaces alongside the 3,200 SF addition to modernize their library and create a center for life-long learning.
