Community Spotlight: Kathleen Porter, Maine Healthcare Engineers Society (MEHES)

Maine Healthcare Engineers Society (MEHES) fosters professional collaboration, supports professional development, and helps build a strong network.

From our beginning in 1976, founder Don Lavallee focused on doing his best to make things better and inspired others to do the same. He cared deeply about our team, our work, and our community. Today, the tradition of giving back remains an important part of what makes Lavallee Brensinger Architects a rewarding place to work and create.

We are excited to spotlight our Director of Business Development, Kathleen Porter, who is currently carrying on a Lavallee Brensinger tradition of serving as Business Partner Liaison for the Maine Healthcare Engineers Society.

1. What is your current role/position?

Business Partner Liaison

2. What does this organization bring to the community?

The Maine Healthcare Engineers Society (MEHES) is a healthcare facilities management association affiliated with the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) and the New England Healthcare Engineer’s Society (NEHES). MEHES is a collaborative partnership comprised of professionals who are dedicated to continually improving healthcare and to the proliferation of its membership. The society is a social network platform used to discuss and improve healthcare and its ever changing requirements placed upon healthcare engineers.

3. Why is this organization important to you?

The role of the healthcare engineer is a crucial component of our healthcare infrastructure. The work they do everyday contributes to the health, safety, productivity, and efficiency of our healthcare institutions. These professionals are often on-call and heavily relied on to keep buildings and their systems running so that clinical staff can do the important work that they do. I have been very fortunate to be welcomed by this organization and not only be a voice for all of the business partner members but be a part of growing and shaping the chapter. This group is made up of some very smart individuals who are also kind and fun to work with, which makes it my pleasure to volunteer my time.
